Gateway filter
Spam has become a big problem in recent years. So much so that spam filters now need spam filters! That’s where a Gateway filter comes in. Most large corporate companies will have a gateway filter. It’s essentially the first line of defence for that company’s email servers and employees. Gatewayfilters use numerous methods to detect spam, from looking up the senders IP address and from email and cross referencing it against many different watch lists. Some of their criteria is confidential in order to stay 1 step ahead of the spammers. The best bit is that they all talk to each other so they can see an overall picture of spam across the globe.
